North West College Appoints New President and CEO

North Battleford, SKNorth West College is pleased to announce Eli Ahlquist has been named North West College’s President and Chief Executive Officer. The move takes effect February 1, 2022.

North West College’s Board Chair Byron Merkosky said, “We are pleased to announce that Dr. Eli Ahlquist has accepted the position of President & CEO. Dr. Ahlquist brings 14+ years of post-secondary leadership experience to the position from post-secondary institutions in Saskatchewan and Alberta. We believe that Eli will see North West College through these challenging economic times, and provide the direction and leadership to make the College even more successful.”

Dr. Ahlquist has a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Saskatchewan, a Master of Public Administration degree from the University of Regina, and a Doctor of Education degree from Bethel University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Dr. Ahlquist is experienced in the development and implementation of institute-wide strategies.  These include, strategic plans, operational plans, curriculum and program reviews, profession specific accreditation, Indigenous and international education, continuing education, applied research, and government relation among other notable achievements.

The Board of Governors would like to welcome Dr. Eli Ahlquist, and encourage the staff and faculty of North West College and the community to welcome him to the community and to our College.  The board would also like to thank Tanis Studney for her incredible work as interim CEO since the departure of Jay Notay in October.
