Indigenization Charter

North West College understands the importance of ethical engagement with Indigenous communities. As we continue our commitment to reconciliation, this Charter was developed to strengthen our relationships with First Nations leaders, and to ensure that our partnerships are grounded in respect, understanding, and a commitment to reconciliation.

Indigenization is an invitation to honour perspectives and contributions of Indigenous people who have occupied these lands for thousands of years. Indigenization opens space for Indigenous knowledge. Including Indigenous knowledge in curriculum, not only acknowledges the contributions of Indigenous people, but allows Indigenous students to see themselves in spaces that were not built for them.

Charter outlines the ten commitments of North West College to indigenizing the instution.
