Telehandler Operator (Zoom Boom) Training 2025-2026

Overview

This training program provides students with an understanding of hazard assessment specific to Telehandler equipment, including causes of fatalities. 

In the planning section, topics include:

  • Choosing the right telehandler
  • Traffic and pedestrian conflicts
  • Minimum safe approach distances
  • PPE requirements
  • Communications

Pre-inspection is thoroughly covered starting with the operator's manual, to run up and function testing of the equipment. 

Optional attachments are discussed including the hazards and common attachment systems used.

Students will also have opportunity to demonstrate safe operation of a telehandler under routine working situations.

            Please note:

  • The following Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) are required for this course:
    • Hard Hat
    • Steel Toed Boots
    • Gloves
    • Safety Glasses
    • Coveralls are recommended but not required

Course format: In-person, Instructor-led

Course Cost: $230 (subject to change)

Location: The course will start at the North Battleford North West College Frontier Mall Learning Centre. Following approximately 4 to 5 hours of classroom instruction, the course will shift to an off-site location in North Battleford for the practical component of the course.  Participants are required to complete practical training on the same day as the classroom training and must provide own transportation to the off-site location.

Course time: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. Please note that this course begins promptly at 8:00am. We ask that you arrive early to complete the registration process.
