Overview
This Early Learning and Child Care Level One certificate program offered in cooperation with Lakeland College gives you the knowledge and skills you need to work in a variety of child care settings.
- Tuition and books are free thanks to support from Government of Canada and Government of Saskatchewan.
An Early Childhood Education (ECE) Level One certificate opens the door to employment in childcare facilities and, with open admission, provides an opportunity for students to access post-secondary credits and a certificate recognized by employers. Admission to these courses is ‘open,’ meaning applicants will not have to provide transcripts or proof of English language proficiency. These entrance requirements will be attractive for newcomers seeking to gain recognized certification needed to quickly enter the workforce.
Level One ECE courses will be offered in addition to English language training, communication skills, and job preparation. The three courses are required by the Ministry of Education for this credential are:
- HS 155 Positive Behavior Supports
- HE 158 Health, Safety and Nutrition
- ED 120 Observation and Play
