Covid-19 Update

APRIL 9, 2020

Dear Students:

I wanted to take this time to sincerely thank each and every one of you for all of hard work, commitment and dedication to your studies during this unprecedented time. Moving to online and alternative delivery programs is a challenge, and I can truly appreciate some frustrations you might all have experienced as we continue to navigate through these difficult times. I want to thank you for your cooperation, patience and resiliency during this global crisis. I’m confident that, along with all North West College staff, you are all doing your part to reduce the spread of COVID-19.

As of today, the Government of Saskatchewan is still operating under the premise of being in a State of Emergency and continues to focus on flat lining COVID-19 occurrences in Saskatchewan.  The College will continue to follow the recommendations of the Chief Medical Health Officer of Saskatchewan, our health authorities, and guiding Ministries as we respond to the COVID-19 situation.  Our top priority continues to be the health and safety of our staff and students, especially during these times.

In the meantime, please continue to follow federal and provincial public health orders. Practice physical distancing, wash your hands frequently, and stay home as much as possible. And please be sure to take care of your health. Reach out regularly to your friends and family – by phone or online.

I know you must have many questions about what this pandemic means for your time at North West College. In order to help answer some of these questions, our team has put together a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) sheet which will be continuously available at our website and updated regularly. Please visit our website at www.northwestcollege.ca to access the FAQs and the latest updates regarding the College’s response to the current health crisis.

These are unprecedented times, full of uncertainty and relies on all of us navigate through our days in ways that we may never have experienced before.  However, what I have witnessed over the past three weeks from our staff and students is unbelievable resiliency and a spirit of innovation in the face of this global crisis. Your ability to adapt in the manner that you have is truly inspirational and fills me with hope and optimism that whatever comes our way, the students and staff of North West College will face these challenges and work through them together.

While the snow continues to fall outside, I would like you all to remember that spring is coming, and Easter is almost here. While this weekend might be one of the most difficult occasions to practice social distancing, please spend the coming long weekend by connecting with family and friends remotely wherever possible.

Please stay safe and healthy.

Sincerely,

Jay Notay

President & CEONorth West College
