COVID-19 Update - August 13, 2021

COVID-19 UPDATE – August 13, 2021

On behalf of Executive Management:

 Hello All,

As you are aware, effective July 11, 2021, Saskatchewan entered into Step Three of its Re-Opening Roadmap and the public health orders and all restrictions relative to COVID-19 were lifted.  The province is expecting all businesses, workplaces and schools will continue to implement their own policies through our respective Occupational Health and safety plans.

As a result of the above and with the continued focus of the safety of our staff, students and community is of the utmost importance.  NWC will ensure its alignment with the Government of Saskatchewan.

However, COVID-19 is not gone.  The risk of transmission of COVID-19 is still a possibility, especially since approximately 2-3 out of 10 individuals in Saskatchewan will still not be fully vaccinated as of today.  It is important that we all continue to do our part to help stop the spread.

The College will continue to monitor the impacts of the provincial direction, and we ask all college community members to follow the following protocols effective August 23rd until further notice

1 – Stay home if you are sick

2 - Preventing the spread of Covid-19

            Wash your hands frequently

Use sanitizer when soap and water are not available

            Routinely clean common surfaces

3 – Masking

We are a mask friendly environment and although masking is not mandatory to come on campus; we recommend masking in close contact areas.

Together let’s create an environment that respects the choices of others.

We encourage individuals who are unvaccinated to continue masking.

Masks are not required except in the following spaces:

a)   Classrooms

b)   Lab’s / computer lab’s

c)   Vehicle’s where more than one staff member or student are riding together

4 – Physical Distancing

The public health order has been lifted, however for the safety of our staff and students we recommend that you wear masks in situations you feel are close contact.

5 – Screening forms

The College daily screening forms are no longer a requirement for anyone.

The College is open to the public.  Prescreening for testing, intake and assessment and safety classes is no longer required; however when people apply/make an appointment we need to advise them if you are sick, please stay home and that we are a respectful mask friendly environment.

6 – Traffic flows

All traffic flow tape and signs are no longer required at College locations and therefore will be removed. The main doors of the campus’s can now be used for two-way traffic.  All other exterior doors will remain locked.

7 – Enhanced cleaning protocols

We will continue with the enhanced protocols in place and will continue to have sanitizer and cleaning cloths for each work area.

8 – Plexi-glass barriers

Plexi-glass barriers will remain in place for the time being.

9 – Blended working and learning

In the interim we will continue blended working and learning.  You will not be required to book your office or have the support of facilities to be on campus.  We will continue to assess; but will have a conservative approach as we move to have more face to face in the fall/winter.  We will communicate further as plans progress, but are confident we will be prepared for the fall. Please contact your Director if you require any clarification regarding your specific job functionality.

10 – Do your part

As per the following link Living with COVID-19 | COVID-19 | Government of Saskatchewan All residents 12+ are encouraged to be fully vaccinated to protect those children under 12 and individuals who can not be vaccinated for medical reasons.

We appreciate your patience as we continue through the provinces Re-open plan and our College’s.

On behalf of Executive Management, stay healthy everyone.
